Welcome to Sappho's Friends new addition:

MOVE YOUR BITS

We have seen an increased amount of queer people having trouble finding the right space to do different physical activities such as yoga, dancing, and many other body-related activities. The usual spaces that offer these activities can be very challenging for many in the queer community, especially for trans people. Many of these places do not know how vulnerable these activities can be for queer people. After many talks with members of our community and other organisations, Sappho's Friends would like to offer the opportunity to train different disciplines led by different people in a protected and inclusive space.

We're starting with four sessions:

09.02: Gymsalen 18-20 13.04: Gymsalen 18-20
11.05: Gymsalen 18-20 08.06: Gymsalen 18-20

Each date will have different disciplines that will be announced in advance on our website and SoMe.

About the February session✨

The very first Move Your Bits session will be February 9th from 18:00 - 20:00 at Gymsalen, Sentralen. It will be hosted by our own Thea (she/her) and she has planned a gentle, non-scary, full-body circuit workout that emphasizes autonomy, rest and emotional regulation 🤸‍♂️

This session is meant for all levels and every personal relationship with workouts. Thea wishes to create a low-stress opportunity where you simply show up and make your own choice of whether or not you want to break a sweat. Here is an overview of what you can expect this February evening:

  • Introduction: 15-20 minutes
  • Warm-up: 15 minutes
  • Structured circuit: 2 blocks x 25 minutes with break between
    • 8 stations (1 obligatory rest station, stations have options catered to different levels)
    • 40 seconds work / 40 seconds rest per station
    • 1 block = 2 full rounds of the stations
    • 1-2 minutes rest between rounds
    • Same 8 stations in both blocks
  • Cool-down and stretching: 20 minutes

Please arrive in or bring clothes you are comfortable moving and perhaps sweating in. There are toilets close to Gymsalen that you can get changed in. Lastly, please bring a water bottle!
