Andrea Gibson (they/them) was an American genderqueer poet and activist. They passed away in July 2025, age 49, after a long battle with cancer. Sappho’s Friends Book Club is marking their passing and their life’s work by reading two of their collections of poetry. Gibson’s poetry focuses on LGBTQIA+ topics, gender norms, social justice, chronic illness, life, mortality, and love. They were a prolific spoken word/slam poetry performer, and you are encouraged to look them up on Youtube to experience their words and their energy firsthand ❤️
When: 11th September 19-21 Where: SKOKS, Margit Hanses gate 3 The discussion will be served with hot drinks and sweets to share. Our reads will sometimes touch upon difficult and sensitive issues. Please be mindful of your own position in conversations. No assholery will be tolerated.
